You might work well with Phillip if…

You’re feeling stuck in repeating patterns, questioning your sense of direction or meaning, or wanting to understand yourself at a deeper level. You may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, or the impact of past experiences, and are looking for therapy that is thoughtful, embodied, and collaborative.

Phillip Mota is an integrative psychotherapist
who works collaboratively with adults and adolescents to support personal growth, emotional well-being, and a deeper sense of fulfilment.

Phillip places strong emphasis on understanding each person’s unique lived experience. He is thoughtful, attentive, and genuinely curious about the nuances of his clients’ inner and outer worlds. His work is grounded in building a therapeutic relationship that feels safe, trusting, and respectful.

Phillip creates a warm, grounding therapeutic environment where clients can explore the challenges they are navigating in their lives. Therapy is tailored to each individual’s presentation, goals, and pace, allowing space for both practical change and deeper emotional work.

He works with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, attachment difficulties, interpersonal and relationship issues, behavioural patterns that feel hard to shift, grief and loss, trauma, and significant life or role transitions. Phillip also supports people grappling with existential questions, spiritual concerns, or periods of uncertainty and crisis.

Alongside this, Phillip has a strong interest in human potential and personal meaning. He works with clients who are seeking to better understand themselves, clarify purpose, or enhance overall functioning and well-being, not only those in acute distress.

Phillip’s approach is informed by the understanding that early life experiences play a significant role in shaping how we perceive and respond to the world. Survival and coping strategies developed in childhood can later become limiting or maladaptive in adulthood. Through collaborative exploration, Phillip supports clients to identify and work through patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaviour that may be holding them back from realising their potential.

Phillip adopts an integrative, somatic, and trauma-informed approach to psychotherapy. His work draws on Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Gestalt Therapy, Mentalisation-Based Therapy, Psychodynamic Interpersonal Therapy, Attachment Repair, and Eco-psychotherapy. This flexible approach allows therapy to be responsive, embodied, and attuned to each client’s needs.

Phillip works from the Mornington clinic on Tuesday afternoons and evenings, and on Thursdays during the day and evening. He also offers online psychotherapy on Wednesdays.

If you are seeking support and Phillip’s availability does not align with your needs, you are welcome to enquire and we can help explore the best fit within the clinic.
