Kym is a psychotherapist and counsellor with over 25 years’ experience, supporting individuals and couples to navigate life’s challenges on a physical, emotional, and psychological level.
Kym began her career as a Myotherapist before transitioning into psychotherapy and counselling. This background informs her deeply embodied, integrative approach to therapy. She works respectfully and inclusively with people from diverse backgrounds and ways of life, offering a space that is safe, non-judgemental, and collaborative.
At the heart of Kym’s work is the therapeutic relationship. She excels at building strong, attuned connections with clients and tailoring therapy to meet each person’s unique needs. Her work focuses on supporting and empowering people to make meaningful, sustainable changes in their lives.
Kym draws from a range of integrative and evidence-informed approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment Repair, Somatic Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Therapy. She supports clients experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, self-esteem concerns, trauma, the impacts of abuse, grief and loss, addiction, and other complex life experiences. Her work is also grounded in strength-based models that support clients to clarify goals, build resilience, and thrive.
A key aspect of Kym’s therapeutic approach is exploring early life experiences and attachment patterns, helping clients understand how these experiences continue to shape their inner world and relationships. This deeper understanding can support healing, self-compassion, and lasting change.
Kym believes that each client is the expert in their own life. She places strong emphasis on autonomy, agency, and self-advocacy, supporting clients to reflect deeply, regulate emotions, and choose how they show up in the world. Therapy with Kym aims to help people feel more grounded, informed, and empowered in their daily lives.
Kym works from the Mornington clinic on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and offers online psychotherapy on Fridays. She has limited evening availability due to family commitments.
Her practice currently has limited availability, and at times she works with a waitlist. If you have found your way here and Kym does not have availability at present, she does not want you to feel stuck or unsupported. Kym works closely with trusted colleagues within the clinic whose work she knows and respects. They offer the same thoughtful, ethical approach to psychotherapy and may have availability when she does not. You are welcome to enquire so the best fit for you can be explored.
